I am but a simple pianist who has lots of fun playing in my spare time and who particularly likes improvisation.
I created this website to share some recordings with family, friends and others as well !
Originally, I used to almost always improvise for myself. However, little by little, I began making some recordings for people close to me in the hopes of making them smile.
Most of the time, it was for special occasions, although for one friend in particular, I would also improvise some pieces weekly which we would name together after a blind listening, sharing our thoughts on what it evoked in our imagination.
As all of these people kept telling me that these recordings made their day, some brought up the idea that it would be great if I shared a couple with the world as well.
Thus, this idea began to grow on me, as who knows, it might embellish your day as well.
One could say the story is told by melody while the atmosphere is brought by harmony, both crucial in shaping the essence of a piece.
Here you'll find improvisations in different styles depending on my inspiration in the moment, although I have a soft spot for stories.
Hence, I try to focus on that, and especially on giving these recordings a simple and straightforward feel.
Thus, main threads will probably often find them, and they may frequently go for lighter harmony.
Hopefully, this creates space for the melody to deploy itself, while also allowing for a unique pull.
In the end, these are just some small spontaneous pieces.
Think of it like listening to a friend playing piano casually.
Since it's improvisation, you may sometimes find some unusual rythms or unexpected notes.
However, as people have told me, it can make it more interesting as well as more authentic and sincere.
To me, improvising is simply sitting down at my piano and playing whatever comes to mind. No sheets, only me and the unknown of imagination. When I sit down, at times, I already have the beginning of a melody, a rythm or an harmony progression starting to run through my head. At others, it's more of a story, an imagery, a feeling, or even a vague concept that finds me. And sometimes, there is nothing until I play some notes and see where it takes me. In all cases, I see it as a form of free playing, listening to yourself, and being surprised by what you naturally let unfold, kind of like a dream.
On Saturday each week, a new recording will appear, each one being its own little tale.
If you'd like, I encourage you to discover them with a "blind listening" :
By default, each recording's title and description will be hidden.
You can thus listen without any indication that would alter your impression, and then share your raw perspective in the Tales section.
This is meant as writing the title and description you would have chosen according to what was evoked for you.
In some sense, this is you telling your own tale in the context of this musical snippet.
You can also see what its original tale was by clicking on to show its title and description.
All of these tales will be visible, so that we can all appreciate and enjoy them !
I'm looking forward to seeing your interpretation and how it relates or differs from the others !
As I see it, this is a grain of salt in a sea of so many talented artists by which I am constantly amazed.
Looking around, I feel so fortunate.
Hence, I'm just attempting to contribute as well to the beauty of it all.
I don't know if it will be useful of significative overall, but in the end, as always, if it can make you smile then it will have been worth it.
Of course, all of it is completely free. Furthermore, no personal data is sold or used for purposes outside of this website management.
This is just a humble little passion project.
Enjoy !
